Reminisce is a video collage that combines a series of video projects created in Bangkok over the last two decades. This work explores the juxtaposition of the sacred and the mundane within the city’s landscape and culture. It highlights familiar scenes and symbols, from the use of lizards, common in local yantra tattoos, believed to attract good fortune, to the colourful and varied plastic stools found at local noodle stalls. The video collage also features recognisable elements of Bangkok life, such as the vibrant taxis and the figure of “Nang Kwak”, another symbol of luck reminiscent of the lucky cat. ‘Reminisce’ aims to capture the artist’s vision of Bangkok’s diverse and captivating character.
