Sandee is a UX/UI designer who also writes poetry and makes art. After returning from her studies in Shanghai, she had grown tired of living in small apartments and started looking for a townhouse instead. She eventually found one on Sathorn Road, tucked away at the entrance of Soi 19, not far from Saphan Taksin.

Although naturally introverted, Sandee decided to open the ground floor to other people. What started as her home gradually became Sandee’s Studio, a small creative space where artists, musicians and poets could meet, perform, exhibit work or simply try things out.

When I arrived, I was greeted by her cat. I was a bit surprised by Sandee herself: she seemed so young, yet her art could be quite violent, in contrast with the open-door spirit of the studio. People would come and go, something might be happening downstairs, while everyday life continued around it.

By the time I came to photograph Sandee, she was preparing to leave. We moved around the townhouse making pictures among the things that were still there, knowing that this little chapter of the space was coming to an end.

The photographs became partly about Sandee, and partly a last record of Sandee’s Studio before she moved on.
