The idea of photographing Pokchat Worasub, renowned for her series of intimate portraits, intimidated me at first. Most photographers are not used to being on the other side of the lens, after all.

But as it turns out, the experience was quite fun, especially thanks to her dog Luke, who is a natural model. We did the shoot at her new studio on Rama 4 Road.

At the time of our shoot, Pokchat was preparing to present new work at the Bangkok Art Biennale 2024 at the National Gallery. Photographing a photographer whose own work is so closely tied to portraiture made the encounter feel slightly unusual, and perhaps that tension was part of what made the session enjoyable.
