Pearamon Tulavardhana

Pearamon Sasha Tulavardhana is a writer, art critic and aspiring curator currently pursuing her MFA in Museum Studies and Curatorial Practice at NTU Singapore. I first encountered her at Gallery VER, where she served as Associate Director until April 2024.

In 2021, Pearamon faced legal trouble after being sued for defamation over an article she wrote about the Office of Contemporary Art and Culture. Although the charges were dropped in December 2022, the case raised important questions about freedom of expression. Quite active online, she also started an Instagram account called Memeseum of Contemporary Art BKK, where she humorously transforms the Thai art scene into a series of playful memes.

For this shoot, we discussed potential locations before Pearamon and her family graciously welcomed me into her grandmother’s home. When she is not in Singapore, Pearamon lives there with her family and boyfriend. We talked at length about how the space evokes a museum or archaeological site, with her grandmother, in many ways, serving as its central curator.
