MM.Kosum

I met MM more than ten years ago when she was one of my students. After she transferred to a different faculty, we lost touch, and I did not see her again until she started exhibiting her work. When we reconnected, she invited me to her studio on the second floor of her late grandparents house. In this luminous and cosy space, MM develops work ranging from ceramic sculptures to charcoal and pastel drawings.

One part of the studio caught my eye: a room covered by a giant faded wallpaper depicting a landscape somewhere in southern Germany or Austria, a memory left by her grandparents. She has chosen to keep it untouched and uses the room to lay some of her work on the floor. Later, she took me to her apartment, which also serves as an additional workspace.

During our conversation, MM told me that she enjoys performance and often takes part in live drawing sessions with musicians. She also spoke about wanting to create her own music and sound installations one day. At the time of our December 2024 encounter, she was preparing a new exhibition planned for the following year.
