Merging two iconic 70’s films, The Big Boss (1971) and Emmanuelle (1974), set in Thailand, L’amour et la Violence delves into the interplay of eroticism and brutality amidst the exoticisation of Thailand as a cinematic playground of desire and danger. Drawing from the Kuleshov Effect, where juxtaposed shots evoke distinct emotions, this piece combines the intense gazes in these films with torrid and brutal encounters to serve as a catalyst, from seduction to sublimation.

The movie was shown at “Oh la la” group show at Pulse Gallery, Bangkok for Galleries Night 2023.
