In my Analogue & Alternative Photography course, my students dove into the “camera obscura” concept by transforming their bedrooms into viewing chambers, projecting the external world inside in an inverted form. I guided our second-year students at Silpakorn University International College through this process, demonstrating fundamental photographic principles and offering a new perspective on everyday scenes.
This project helped students appreciate the interplay between light, perspective, and photography, emphasizing hands-on learning to deepen both their technical understanding and creative expression. This assignment taught them to view the world through a different lens, literally and metaphorically. It puts them inside the camera itself and is one of my favourite exercises for introducing photography to students.
