As the instructor for DCD’s Lighting for Photography and Film course, I had to train a range of students to understand the use of strobes and light modifiers for creative projects. Here are some examples of the work they produce:
Midterm Projects: Captivating Food Photography
Following a workshop with Willem Deenik from Fame Lights Photo Studio, students in our Advanced Photographic Image course produced a series of captivating photographs for various food industry clients. These images, utilizing artificial lighting to enhance visual storytelling, demonstrate our students’ growth in both photography and presentation skills.
Final Projects: Mastering Lighting Techniques
Our third-year course, Lighting for Photography & Film, challenges students to master artificial lighting across different genres, such as portraiture and product photography. The final projects, documented in their Research and Visual Journals (RVJ), show their ability to blend technical skills with creative vision, focusing on areas like Fashion, Conceptual, and Commercial photography.
